Effortless Device Management with Apple Configurator
Apple Configurator simplifies the management of iOS and macOS devices, making it easier for IT departments to deploy and configure multiple devices efficiently.
Apple Configurator for iPhone simplifies the process of adding any iOS device running iOS 16 or later, or any Mac with the T2 Security Chip or Apple silicon running macOS Monterey or later to your organization in Apple School Manager, Apple Business Manager, or Apple Business Essentials. This allows you to take full advantage of Automated Device Enrollment.
Once you sign in to Apple Configurator with your organization's Managed Apple ID that has the Device Enrollment Manager role, you can easily provide network configuration to the device being added. You have the option to either share the iPhone's network configuration or choose a configuration profile to install on the device.
To add a device to your organization, simply bring the iPhone running Apple Configurator close to an iPhone or iPad displaying the Wi-Fi pane in Setup Assistant or near a Mac displaying the Country or Region pane in Setup Assistant. Scan the image or manually enter the provided six-digit PIN. After the device is successfully added, it will appear in an 'Added by Apple Configurator' MDM server placeholder within Apple School Manager, Apple Business Manager, or Apple Business Essentials. The Administrator or Device Enrollment Manager can then assign it to an MDM server for Automated Device Enrollment. For your convenience, Apple Configurator includes a status button that provides a report of devices that have already been added to your organization.
When a device is assigned and enrolled in this manner, it behaves just like any other device enrolled using Automated Device Enrollment. This includes mandatory supervision and MDM enrollment. The only distinction is that users have a 30-day provisional period to remove the device from the organization's supervision and MDM.
